This project explores the often-overlooked recovery process following physical exertion, with a particular focus on the needs of athletes’ feet. It investigates the development and evolution of post-workout recovery footwear, examining the various factors that contribute to the distinct requirements of individual athletes. Currently, the market for post-workout recovery footwear lacks options that effectively address these diverse needs, which can hinder athletes' physical longevity and rehabilitation.
To guide the design process, the project draws on scientific literature regarding the biomechanics of footwear and recovery, ensuring that informed decisions shape the creative development of an innovative post-workout recovery footwear solution. A key aspect of this project is the integration of periodic lattice-based cellular structures with additive manufacturing techniques, exploring their potential applications within the footwear industry and assessing their viability for commercial production.

Final Design
This project resulted in the development of 3D-printed, post-exercise recovery footwear. The design addresses individual recovery needs with key elements such as breathability, injury prevention, comfort, and support. Athletes can tailor the footwear to their specific needs, while advanced additive manufacturing ensures precise design and performance. This solution provides a sustainable, personalised approach to athletic recovery.
